Hiking Diamond Head Summit in Oahu, Hawaii

Hiking to the summit of Diamond Head State Monument in Oahu, Hawaii

My two girlfriends and I were in Hawaii for New Years Eve and decided to leave Waikiki beach to get some physical activity in.  Hiking to the top of Diamond Head offers an incredible panoramic birds eye view of Waikiki Beach and Honolulu.

It’s open from 6 am – 6 pm everyday and costs $1 per pedestrian and $5 per car.

It takes about 40 – 60 minutes to reach the top.  You can take your time and stop at all of the view points along the way.  It’s not difficult, there are kids and older people doing the hike but it may just take you longer if you take more breaks along the way.  There are plenty of benches and viewpoints to break at on your way to the top.

Bring water – it can get very hot on the way up!

  1. Imagine the headlines: Summit tourism reaches its peak!

View foot photos of adventures and climbs to local monuments.

Smile and remember a good time.

    Share and spread smiles together.

    Thank you for sharing!
